Real (Hon) Mirin. In Japanese cuisine, it is mainly used for cooking, but it can also be used as a drink. The sweet flavour is created by fermenting glutinous rice, water and rice yeast.
Together with soya sauce (shoyu), it is the main ingredient in teriyaki sauce.
It is also often used in cocktails, desserts or drunk cold straight like sherry.
