Real (Hon) Mirin is mainly used in Japanese cuisine for cooking, but can also be enjoyed as a drink. Its sweet flavour comes from the fermentation of glutinous rice, water and rice yeast.

It is a main ingredient in teriyaki sauce, together with soya sauce (shoyu).

Hon mirin is also used in cocktails or drunk cold and pure like sweet sake.
